WELCOME BACK WESTSIDE
What You Need to Know
This week is an exciting week for students, teachers, and parents. We hope this page helps you and your student(s) get started on the right foot.
The first month of school is filled with activities and events to help you and your family acclimate back to school. Please mark your calendars for these opportunities to connect with families and learn more about your child’s school year.
Monday, July 31st – 4:30 – 6:00 P.M. – Meet Your Teacher
This is an informal time for parents and students to visit their classroom, meet their teacher and participate in a fun activity before the first day of school.
Tuesday, August 1st – 8:00 – 8:30 A.M. – Back to School Breakfast for Parents
Sponsored by the Community Council and Chick Fil A, parents are invited to come to Perry Park for breakfast after dropping their children at school. This is a great time to connect with other parents and to hear from Delana and the new deans about the upcoming school year.
Tuesday, August 15th – 7:00 P.M. – Community Council Meeting
The Community Council is Westside’s parent/teacher organization. All Westside families are members of the Community Council and encouraged to attend this first meeting to hear more about volunteer opportunities and events at school.
Tuesday, August 22nd – 6:30 P.M. – Curriculum Night (K-2nd)
Wednesday, August 23rd – 6:30 P.M. – Curriculum Night (3rd – 6th)
Curriculum Nights are opportunities for families to hear an outline of the curriculum for the first semester of school and connect with other families in their child’s class. They also provide opportunities for parents to sign up for volunteering in their child’s classroom.
Check out our updated school uniform policy to make sure you are ready for the new school year!
Car Rider Lines
Because Westside is located in the West Highlands neighborhood with a separate upper and lower campus, sometime car rider lines can be confusing. Please read below to find your best route. Please remember to not exit your vehicle or put it in park as to keep the line moving safely and easily for other families.
Third through Sixth Grade (Upper Campus)
Please proceed into the neighborhood on West Highlands Drive and proceed straight across the top of the park to the upper campus. Student should exit the car to the passenger side and will be escorted across the street by school staff. If you have a child in both the upper and lower campuses, please drop off at the upper campus first.
Kindergarten through Second Grade (Lower Campus)
If your student is only at the lower campus, then please enter the neighborhood on Odessa Drive. Proceed across the bottom of the park and Columbia Crest Apartments to Drew Drive. Turn right on Drew drive and the lower campus will be located on the right. A WACS staff member will help your student exit the car safely to the passenger side of the vehicle.
