WESTSIDE FAMILY SPOTLIGHT
Throughout the year, we will begin spotlighting our Westside families and staff so that as we grow, we can still maintain our foundation of strong community.

THE MURPHY-WEST FAMILY – MICHAEL AND ALYSON,
ALEXANDRA (1ST) AND JACKSON (FUTURE WESTSIDER)
The Murphy – West family joined the Westside family when Alexandra (1st grade) began kindergarten in the fall of 2017. Alyson is the newest Community Council Co-chair for Westside.
Why did you choose Westside for your family?
More than any other school we toured, Westside’s warm, nurturing spirit and commitment to diversity stood out.
What is your favorite thing about Westside?
The care and attention paid to each child, academically and emotionally.
What is your family’s favorite meal?
We LOVE all things breakfast! All day. Any day.

THE HUNTER FAMILY – MIKE AND JENNIFER,
DANIEL (6TH), BEN (4TH), AND THOMAS (1ST)
The Hunter family joined the Westside family the first year it opened (fall of 2013) when their oldest son Daniel (6th grade) was a 1st grader. Jennifer currently serves alongside Alyson Murphy-West as the Community Council Co-chair.
Why did you choose Westside for your family?
We chose Westside because we were looking for a small school with a strong sense of community. We started at Westside in its opening year, so it was a leap of faith, but we got a great feeling from everyone we met – teachers, staff, and other parents. We’re so happy we made the leap!
What is your favorite thing about Westside?
Our favorite thing about Westside is the teachers. All of the teachers we’ve had have a true passion for their jobs. They are dedicated and always accessible.
What is your family’s favorite meal?
Our favorite meal is homemade pizza!
